PalmGIS GPS is intended for use mainly in navigation devices installed in cars. It allows to first plan the trip and then makes the driver’s orientating easier by means of voice tips. The search system allows finding on a map of the object specified with great precision (e.g. finding a house).
PalmGISGPS allows:
- displaying your location on a map together with navigation equipment to display your site;
- tracing your movement on a map of city;
- correcting the GPS receiver data as referred to the map of city;
- offering the shortest route to drive with the account of the Municipal Traffic Safety Inspection (GIBDD) information (one-way traffic, the traffic is closed or no turn), and possible traffic jams on roads;
- offering minimum time driving route for a car in view of the GIBDD information and traffic jams on roads;
- seeing the route developed on a map, or scrolling through the streets list identify-ing turns and distances;
You also may:
- automatically recompute the route in case of deviation with regard to current location;
- display the movement direction scheme and the map focused on your movement direction, which is smoothly turning as far as your car is moving;
- use voice tips about direction and distance up to the nearest turn;
- see the map of city in various scales on screen;
- receive supplemental information about objects on the map;
- place waypoints in necessary places on the map;
- search for an object with address, name or through a waypoint;
- search for objects in a circle of the set radius;
- define start and finish points by pressing on the map, using addresses, names or a waypoint, or GPS indications;
- receive information about traffic jams in a real time mode to further display it on the map;
- search for objects (filling stations, hospitals, drugstores, etc.) near the route de-veloped;
- edit the routing network (the traffic is forbidden, a traffic jam, driving speed).
The PalmGISGPS functions in handbooks controlled by such operational systems as PocketPC/PocketPC 2002/Windows Mobile 2003 and WM 5.0. The PalmGISGPS can be installed either on a flash-card, or in the RAM file area and requires not less than 25 Mb of free space, depending on the card and the program version. To start the PalmGISGPS you need at least 7 Mb of the RAM for programs, depending on the version of the program and a card. Any GPS receiver, supporting the NMEA-0183 protocol and working as through a com-port as through the flash-card socket can be used as the navigation equipment.
To quickly get the information about traffic jams you need the special device capable of receiving information through the paging data channel.
The PalmGISGPS will certainly appear useful as to individual users: tourists, car-drivers, businessmen for the use when driving, at home, in the office, as well as in companies working with freights transportation, delivery of goods to citizens, maintenance of cars on roads, for first aid driving, fire brigades, police (militia), etc.
Attention!!! The program is protected. To start working with the program you need to get the activation code. For more details about how to obtain the said code, see the docu-mentation on the program.
In 2002 the PalmGISGPS became the prize-winner of the Handy Mobile Awards 2001 premium in the “Program of Year” nomination (Windows CE/Pocket PC). In 2003 the PalmGISGPS won the first prize in the contest for the best program for the pocket personal computers (handbooks), working under control of such operational systems as Microsoft (r) Pocket PC 2002, which was held by the representative office of Microsoft in Russia and CIS.
